I think it appropriate to begin a wish list. Sort of a "wish I had known I was going to have to get this, and hope someone else gets it for me" list. I've nothing to lose.
So here it is. It's a Roller Furling Unit for the boat, which I have determined is a Safety Item. Other owners have learned the importance of quick sail reduction for those times when conditions deteriorate rapidly. So, when I order sails, I'll be getting a set (or two) of reefing points in the main. But for the jib, it's all or nothing -- no roller reefing rigs are available for boats this small, but roller furling is. Those who love me will want to get this for me. Of course I love myself, so there's always the credit card.
Oh, all right. Roller furling means ... a means to completely roll up the jib around the forestay, from the cockpit. No need to go forward, drop the jib, and bundle it up in order to reduce sail. Just pull a line and it rolls up. Roller reefing is a more elaborate mechanism that lets you roll the jib up (or deploy it) partially, thus enabling a virtually infinite choice of foresail area. Not available for tiny boats, and probably overkill even if it were.
There.
